How to grow an avacado tree in 5 easy steps!

Image
This article will show you how you can grow your own avocado tree from a seed. It is seriously so easy it only takes 5 steps. The only down side to growing your own avocado tree  is that it takes years to grow the actual fruit but like one of my favorite quotes states,   "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”  –  Chinese Proverb Okay so now to the 5 easy steps..  Step 1. After you finish your avocado  save the seed ! (I try to save all of my seeds so one day i can live in avocado heaven) Step 2. Peel the avocado seed. The outer brown layer is the shell and for best results you should take it off.  Step 3 . Grab some tooth picks and stab the seed so it can hover above the water. It usually only takes 3 toothpicks. Step 4. Find a jar or cup to fill with water. I recommend a clear glass jar so you can watch the roots grow!  Step 5. Place the avocado seed in the water so the bottom half (bigger end) so it is covered w

Beaches Green Market

Image
Every Saturday my boyfriend and I to go to the market at Jarboe park in Atlantic beach. While it is a pretty small market, it has awesome vendors. One of our newest addictions are kolaches. They are a puff pastry filled with fresh fruit or savory cheeses. The couple that make them spends 6 hours every Saturday morning baking and preparing. Right now they have fall flavors like pumpkin spice. Go check out their insta (@thekolachestand) and visit them at the market. On the other hand it is a necessity to bring our growler (which we usually forget and half to turn back half way😅) and fill up with fresh Kombucha for the week. Gut health is so important and kombucha is a great way to get more live microbes in yo belly. Gnarbucha always has diferent flavors to try like mango or gnarberry. Also the fresh produce is great. I always grab fresh eggs and grape tomatoes. Eating local foods that are in season is the best way to eat for your body and the Earth. 🍃Check out the vendors 🍅🍳   htt

Image
Did I mention I am obsessed with sweet potatoes.. I make sweet potatoes and kale at least twice a week. I always have leftovers so I decided to make quesadillas to get a little more interesting. Of course i put siracha on the top. Love it. Makes 2 quesadillas Ingredients  1 large Sweet potato chopped  1 cup kale finely chopped  4 quesadillas  1 clove of Garlic 1 tablespoon of olive oil  Recipe 1. In a skillet add olive oil and minced garlic on medium heat. Preheat the oven to 350° F 2. Once garlic is golden brown add your cubed sweet potatoe to the skillet and sprinkle with salt & pepper. Cover sweet potatoes and allow to cook for 5 minutes or until easily pierced with a fork. Once the oven is preheated . Place tortillas in aluminum foil and place in oven.  3. Add spinach or kale and cover. Let kale cook until wilted about 2 minutes.   4. Take out the tortillas once they are warm and assemble quesadillas.  5. Enjoy!

If you are not a fan of sweet sweet potatos give this recipe a try. While I liked baked sweet potatoes with brown sugar and cinnamon, I am obsessed with savory sweet potatos!!
